Abstract	"This paper is concerned with research into the use of global education as a new approach to teaching in general, and to foreign languages in particular, for with increasing frequency, global issues feature as popular subjects of ...media and this concern is reflected in many schools around the world. This research forms part of a larger study, which includes data from Greece, Sweden, Japan and Holland.... Global education 'aims at enabling students to effectively acquire and use a foreign language while empowering them with the knowledge, skills, and commitment required by world citizens fir the solution of global problems'". 2697 student teachers in their first and last years were surveyed with a closed-end instrument. The variables which were investigated included: foreign language proficiency, attitudes towards global education issues (global-mindedness) and knowledge of global issues. (DIPF/Bi.).
