| Abstract | This article focuses on the relationship between the state and higher education in the Czech Republic, which changed from total state control under the communist regime to the democratisation of higher education. This entails that it investigates the impact of Sovietisation on Czech higher education. The revolution of November 1989 was thought to have been initiated by students. Therefore one of the first acts of the next democratic government was to create new legislation to democratise higher education. As a result of the previous centralisation of higher education, the new law attempted to decentralise the system. This attempt has led to some ambiguity. ( DIPF/ Abstract übernommen) |
