Abstract | If we compare contemporary official prescriptions for comprehensive secondary school change with post-war recommandations for the development of this middle school, we discover archaïc tensions related to comprehensive secondary school foundations, organization and to the teaching content. This analysis also reveals contemporary constraints resulting from the enrollment of all primary school leavers, especially those concerning pupils' guidance which requires a great diversification of school tasks models.
