Abstract | Setting diversified education streams in the second year of secondary school was an attempt to take pupils' diversity into account. When we analyse thinking and devices related to this space left for educational staff's initiative, we are led to draw a more complex picture of this "collège" still in search for an identity. Diversified educational streams, which propose pupils other ways of learning, other relations to knowledge, another curriculum, are trying out a new way of teaching, less academic, in lower secondary schools.
