Abstract | The Danish tradition of adult education is mostly of a practical nature, and has had few links to educational research. But in the last two decades the study of adult education has emerged as an independent and dynamic area of research. This research is in close contact with the pracitical side of adult education, but it is based on systematic empirical research and an interdisciplinary approach integrating numerous inspirations from sociology, psychology, and cultural studies. This volume contains 16 original contributions to this new Danish field of research. The contributions cover a broad range of subjects, but all reflect the effort to develop the theoretical foundations for the study of adult education. (DIPF/orig.). |
