Abstract	The author presents an overview of current trends and past and present developments in educational finance in the region of Central Asia and Mongolia in a comparative perspective. This comparative analysis is based on the national reports (from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tadjikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) of the Almaty meeting in 1995. (...) The objective of this paper is to process and synthesize the scarce information and data, available on the topic, and interpret them through the conceptual framework and indicators, practiced by ... UNESCO. Given the deficit of the in-depth studies, relating the region with this area of research, the review makes a reference to the existing literature on the post-independence developments in the region after the beginning of market reforms in the nineties and looks into transferability of schemes and policies of educational finance, experimented elsewhere.
