Abstract	This information document gives a general but not comprehensive picture of UNESCO's activities in the Europe Region because of the intersectoral and interregional character of many of them, and because of the great variety of forms and modes of action used by UNESCO in implementing its programmes and projects. In its educational action in Europe which is developed in close cooperation with other international organizations, UNESCO places accent on assuring new arrangements, twinnings and exchanges, on introducing European and international dimension in education, on developing the proper recognition of the strategic importance of education, especially in a period of rapid transition to a new democratic society.
