| Abstract | School failure is not the consequence of teachers und students inability to transmit or take in knowledge, but is the consequence of representations of these processes constructed by the system which are paradoxically similar to those of Pierre Bourdieu. Knowledge is considered by the system as a tool for social recognition und adjustment, an asset necessary for all. The systern of diplomas und constraints organized with this objective prevents students from constructing 'intrinsic motivations' which are necessary to learn. As a result, the only successful students are those who find in their family enough stimulation, which cannot be tolerated in a democratic system. It's why schools must redefine immediately their 'missions'. (DIPF/ orig.) |
