Abstract | The performance of secondary students in India is unsatisfactory since "few decades"; contributing to this failure is "if the teachers do not possess adequate mastery over their subjects and padagogy. However, failure or inadequacies of general education need to be compensated for by a systematic programme of teachers' continuing education under a clear-cut policy of their professional growth. The paper reflects critically the overview of INSET (Inservice Education for Teachers) in India and various approaches towards its institutionalization. [DIPF/Orig.] |
