Abstract | In this paper, the author suggests three propositions concerning the field of educational psychology. First, many topics of research in educational psychology are based on untested assumptions that are subject to the zeitgeist rather than empirical evidence. Second, once educational research has gained direct access to the reality of education, its further development is largely determined by non- scientific considerations. Third, major themes of educational research have good chances to become part of the educational reality if specific groups of users, i.e. mainly teachers, are convinced of their importance. However, this makes them practically immune against contradictory empirical findings. (DIPF/orig.) |
