Abstract | This paper concerns an important and "controversal" evaluation process. The results are part of the wide research programme. They cover general opinions of primary (n = 70) and secondary (n = 70) school teachers on different questions connected with the evaluation process and teacher's role in this process. According to the results it could be stated that primary school teachers differ from secondary school teachers in perception of evaluation questions and that the evaluation has got a subjective dimension. However they think that evaluation should reflect a pure pupil's knowledge - that it is used more as a reward than a fine (nevertheless it is a sanction!) and that in declaration on evaluation the accepted standards "compete" with facts of school reality.
