Abstract | This article stems from the example of the educational provisions for Tibetan refugees living in India or Nepal. It aims at enhancing school's part in cultural preservation. ... The author evaluates to which extent education provided to Tibetan refugees prevents them from neglecting their own culture when they are exposed to a multicultural. After a historical record of the institution of the Tibetan educational system the author describes educational practices observed in those schools and wonders about its internal contradictions. Will Tibetans with such an education be able to construct later, cultural models adjusted to present time and nevertheless be faithful to their traditional heritage? The question is asked.
