| Abstract | The State Institute for School Education and Educational Research is directly responsible to the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. It makes the results of research and practical classroom experiences available to the schools and supports the Ministry in the further development of the Bavarian school system. In particular, it has the responsibility: - to further the educational work of schools, - to monitor the work of the syllabus development commissions, which are appointed by the state ministry, as refers to subject matter and organisation, - to participate in the planning of in-service teacher training, - to follow and to evaluate experimental pilot project at schools, - to investigate the individuality and the interdependence of the various types of schools - taking into account regional points of view - and to evaluate the effects of measures taken by the state educational policy.
