Abstract | Following the attainment of independence in 1980, criticisms of academically-oriented curricula [in Zimbabwe] led to pilot-testing of education with production in eight schools for former refugee students with a view to making the curriculum relevant to national development needs. It is the purpose of this paper to review the implementation of the education with production curriculum and assess the extent to which its major goals have been attained after 13 years of experimentation with the concept. The paper also discusses the origins and characteristics of the policy and examines the research findings around the implementation process using theoretical literature from the field of educational change as the analytical framework.... The case study was ... using triangulation of questionnaires, interviews [with students and some teachers] and document analysis to determine the level of curriculum implementation.
