Abstract	This paper reviews the most significant policy developments which are implemented internationally in the area of VET (vocational education and training) financing. Emphasis is placed on the experiences of EU countries. The paper is divided into two parts. Firstly, the financing mechanisms designed to improve the efficiency and quality of VET in the public sector is reviewed. This part is justified on the grounds that VET is, at present, predominantly financed from public funds and may remain so in the years to come despite the efforts made to diversify the sources of financing. Second, alternative sources of financing stressing co-financing arrangements involving employers, local authorities and trainees, will be explored. (DIPF/orig.).
