Abstract | Since the creation of the academic mission on international relations in 1994, the Bordeaux Regional Education Authority annually defines three major priorities for school exchanges. This transborder cooperation policy is resolutely acquiring a regional character and is being defined in close liaison with local authorities and institutional partners from the socio-economic sphere. [...] In 1995, priority was given to the professional and technical employment of young people. [...] The second priority identified in consultation with the local communities involves the organization of transborder exchanges between Aquitaine and Northern Spain (Euskadi, Navarre, Aragon). [... ] The third priority has to do with the development of traditional transatlantic relations with Latin America and the Caribbean in synergy with the annual International Festival at Biarritz. In 1996, the European Year of Lifelong Learning, European relations within the Atlantic Arc (from Ireland to Portugal) became a matter of top priority with, notably, a significant personnel training project subsidized with community funds (COMENIUS).
