Abstract | "Gesundheit" ist kein unmittelbar gegebenes Phänomen, sondern eine hochgradig positiv besetzte soziokulturelle Konstruktion. Verf.-Referat. Health is not a phenomenon that is given directly; rather, it represents a socioculturel construction with a highly positive attribution. Therefore, the respective underlying understanding of the term "health" is the key for developing and evaluating health-educational measures in sport. Three fundamentally different views need to be distinguished in this connection: (1) health as a biomédical state ("training concept"), (2) health as a process of self-realization ("body experience concept"), and (3) health as a potential for adaptation to the environment ("health education"). On the basis of criticism, especially regarding the first two approaches, a warning ist brought forward with respect to a clearly aimed construction of the "meaning of health" and connecting it with a specific sport-pedagogic health education. On the contrary, it is necessary to attempt an outline of an educational theory of sport based on individual ethics, which includes the full range of the construct of "health" and assesses it within this framework.
