Abstract | Prepared by a group of professional leaders in agriculture and agricultural education throughout the United States, the pamphlet focuses on broad planning and leadership for the future in the field of agricultural education. An introductory section which traces influences on vocational education program development is followed by a section discussing vocational-technical education agricultural programs at the secondary, postsecondary, and adult education levels. Current trends, program implications, program growth, successful program components, agricultural educator role, and program coordination are discussed. A third section dealing with the future responsibilities of the agricultural teacher educator touches upon preparation of agricultural educators, graduate and inservice education, research, and teaching of agriculture at the university level. Concluding recommendations are related to research expansion, teaching-learning process improvement, ready availability of relevant programs, and improved agricultural educator preparation. (EA) |
