Abstract | At this 1965 Central and East African conference, lectures and reports were given on radio and television in correspondence education; uses of films, radio, the printed word, and television in adult education in general; and principles of effective and efficient mass media communication. Emphasis was on the value of combined visual and aural learning in which the teacher, the printed word, visual aids, and other media reinforce each other; on the importance of eliciting active student response and participation; on utilizing scarce teaching resources to a country's greatest advantage; and on designing instructional systems to meet specific needs. (Also included are conference resolutions, study group reports, appendixes, a bibliography, and examples of mass media adult education projects in Tanzania.) (ly) |
