Abstract	As a young parent, the author hoped to find ideas, like recipes, that she could immediately put to use. In reality, it is a handful of basic good parenting principles that are especially useful when raising children with exceptional abilities. The author highlights five important elements of parenting that have consistently popped up in her research, personal experiences and reading: (1) Conversation; (2) Action Research; (3) Role Modeling; (4) Partnering in Learning; and (5) Opportunity Making. In this article, the author shares how she creatively combined educational options to best meet the needs of her gifted child using these five important elements. (Contains 1 figure.) (ERIC).
