Abstract | Using Maslow's and Herzberg's hierarchies of needs, the author discusses some of the personal and job-related factors which motivate teachers. He suggests that boards can motivate teachers and prevent burnout not by satisfying lower-level security needs but by providing opportunities for responsibility, reward, and achievement. (SJL) |
