| Abstract | Methodologists serve a critical role in the research enterprise. It is our contention that there is an imbalance between the need for methodologists and the needs of methodologists. Providing methodological support to substantive research and methodological reviews are critical service areas that strengthen the entire research enterprise. Therefore, competent and collaborative methodologists are currently stretched to/beyond capacity. Furthermore, methodologists want and need to engage in methodological research. However, engaging in methodological service detracts from the methodologist's ability to conduct his or her own research. Ultimately, we contend that the demand for methodological expertise will always outpace the supply. (As Provided). |
