| Abstract | This article explores the technology fluency of the preschool "digital native" and how this familiarity with technology influences learning in the classroom. The study involved introducing tablets as a tool for mark making and observing how students engaged with the technology creatively. This study considered the continuously rising enthusiasm for such tools in schools while exploring their appropriateness for creating in one particular learning environment. The author found that students regularly associate tablets with gaming and social media, making it difficult for them to use the device creatively. The author believes that a shift in artistic exploration can only occur with continued exposure to technology as well as meaningful guidance from creative professionals. (ERIC). |
