Abstract | Athletic programs nationwide are facing budget constraints like never before. Pay-to-play programs are becoming commonplace. School districts are providing less and less funding for athletics. Still worse, many high school athletic programs are being cut entirely from the scholastic school setting. Coaches and athletic directors are being forced to find additional sources of funding to keep their programs afloat. This article presents an overview of popular community initiatives provided by corporations, teams, foundations and public entities. Private and public sources of additional funding are discussed, as well as key steps to assist interscholastic athletic program leaders in soliciting help and resources from the identified sources.
