| Abstract | This qualitative study explored the perceptions and experiences of IT Managers in publicly traded companies within the San Antonio, Texas area about outsourced data centers. Narrative data was collected using open-ended questions and face-to-face interviews within semi-structured environments. The research questions guided the study: (1) "What are the experiences and perceptions of IT managers regarding outsourced data centers?"; (2) "What are the experiences and perceptions of IT managers regarding outsourced technology services?"; and (3) "What are the experiences and perceptions of IT managers about Infrastructure as a Service?" Data analysis findings revealed six general themes within the study. The five themes were: (a) IT managers' perceptions about technology outsourcing; (b) IT managers' experiences with technology outsourcing; (c) IT managers' perceptions about Infrastructure as a Service; (d) IT managers' experiences with Infrastructure as a Service; (e) IT managers' perceptions about outsourced data centers; and (f) IT managers' experiences with outsourced data centers. Recommendations to leaders included publicly traded corporate leadership need to increase their understanding of technology efficiencies. Leadership did not value technology efficiencies and had a very singular focus on costs. Recommendations for future research include expanding the research to other corporate decision makers such as executives, business managers, and financial managers.
