Abstract | This report is a presentation of summaries from the 2002 New Jersey Council of County Colleges Best Practices Conference. The conference features 75 presenters from each of New Jersey's 19 community colleges. The 2002 conference was a large success with 250 members from New Jersey's Community College family attending the event. The goal of the conference is to share the most valuable innovations and other ideas for community college instruction, administration, and general "best practices." The following are those "best practices" discussed in the report: (1) Abbot District + Collaboration = Comprehensive Child Care Training; (2) adding value to online course; (3) armed and "centered" for the future; (4) conceptual approaches to the use of statistics in higher education; (5) doubling your employees' tax deferred options--instituting a section 475 (B) plan; (6) honors study; (7) innovations in faculty development; (8) leadership shore; (9) partnering at its best; (10) saving money through cooperation--opportunities with the joint purchasing consortium; (11) strategies for successful workplace literacy programs; (12) student leadership development; and (13) technology grant program--project and benefits. Each of the "best practices" is discussed in detail in an individual section and most sections contain a contact person that will provide more information regarding programs. (MZ) |
