Abstract | The cable television channels A&E and the History Channel (and their Web sites) offer an array of creative ideas developed by teachers who understand teachers' busy schedules. This booklet provides supplementary content for A&E and History Channel programs along with correlation links to the national standards, grade level guidelines, discussion questions, activities, a vocabulary list, and resources listing Web sites and reading materials. The booklet is divided into two parts: A&E Teacher's Guides and the History Channel Teacher's Guides. The A&E Teacher's Guides consist of the following units: "Gorillas"; "Ape Man"; "Victoria and Albert"; and "Dizzy Gillespie." The History Channel Teacher's Guides consist of these units: "The World Trade Center"; "American Classics"; "Save Our History: Live from Jamestown"; and "Save Our History: USS Arizona." In addition, the booklet provides teaching ideas authored by classroom teachers. (BT) |
