Abstract | There is a critical need to introduce today's youths to the characteristics and nature of the diverse worlds with which they consciously and unconsciously interact during the course of a lifetime. Accordingly, this paper describes several ways in which elementary and secondary students can be exposed to world problems and develop global perspectives. Four issues are briefly discussed: (1) population growth, (2) food production; (3) technology development; and (4) environmental quality. For each of these problem areas, a dozen or more related classroom activities are suggested. Also included is a list of 20 selected teaching resources for global education. (Author/WB) |
