Abstract	The purposes of this Unesco workshop were to: (1) share experience gathered during national level workshops and identify problems, growth points, and methodologies of innovative projects, particularly those with focus on the use of locally available resources and environment as an alternative to and complement of laboratories; (2) based on the synthesis of the above experiences, develop guidelines for designing, developing, and implementing science curricula based on the materials derived from and linked with real-life situations and employable skills associated with them, using the environment and local resources; (3) suggest alternative methods for preparing teachers of science and technology education for implementing science curricula related to real-life situations, using environment and local resources; and (4) recommend follow-up activities, both at the national and regional levels.
