Abstract	The intent of this seminar presentation was to demonstrate that with proper care in selecting and managing energy analysis programs, or in choosing commercial services to accomplish the same purposes, universities and colleges may derive significant benefits from efficient and economical use and management of their facilities. The workbook begins with an overview of energy analysis followed by a description of the types of computer programs available and various levels of analysis. The concept of time value of money is explained and steps for calculating a life-cycle cost analysis are given. Interpretation and application of the results of a computer energy analysis provide examples of daily solar loads revealed by the computer program and some of the control strategy possible. The staff and training requirements and procurement and management of a computer program are discussed. A directory of energy consumption analysis programs and a summary of one consultant's computer programs and presentation graphics are included. Two case studies describing the application of computer assisted energy analysis illustrate both the process and results that may be obtained. (Author/MLF)
