Abstract | The second segment of a two-part general report of a province-wide reading assessment program in British Columbia, this report presents the results of two teacher surveys, one dealing with the desired objectives of secondary reading instruction and the other concerning the methodology of instruction throughout the province. The chapters of the report provide demographic information on the teachers and descriptive data concerning their goals and instructional programs in reading, such as the relative importance that they gave to various instructional objectives in terms of emphasis and frequency of instruction. The report correlates the information gathered in this assessment with the survey information from the language arts assessment reported elsewhere and presents a synthesis of the findings. Appendixes contain a summary of recommendations regarding teacher background, goals, and instructional practices, and a copy of the teacher questionnaire used in the survey. (MAI) |
