| Abstract | This report summarizes the first-year findings of a research program which investigated the nature and extent of residential care for dependent, neglected, or disturbed children in approximately 32 institutions in Georgia. Information was collected on each institution's physical facilities, staff structure, and policies. Data were also gathered on staff childrearing practices, backgrounds of staff and children, their orientation and performance levels, and staff ratings of children's performance levels.
