Abstract | A lead article, Instructional Uses of School Political Experiences, written by Judith A. Gillespie, describes the High School Political Science Curriculum Project, the materials for which are in the early developmental stages. As has been explained in SO 005 407 and SO 005 409, the approach utilizes the school as a political laboratory. An effort is made in the project to integrate political knowledge with actual experiences. Other inclusions in the newsletter are: 1) announcement of the new SSEC Directors, Teacher Associates and new Director of ERIC/ChESS; 2) announcement of new social studies materials; 3) discussions of the SSEC Task Forces on Consultation, Dissemination, Publications, Teacher Education, and Trends in Social Science and Education; 4) a summary of the preliminary survey of the international/intercultural dimension in general education undertaken by SSEC; 5) a brief description of "Profiles of Promise," brochures on innovative social studies practices, and a list of criteria used in selecting practices for publication; 6) a report of sites selected for 1972/73 SSEC Teacher Educator Workshops; and 7) a summary of the November 1972 issue of "Social Education."
