AbstractThis report describes in detail the planning and operation of an 8-week pilot day care program for migrant children in Hoopeston, Illinois. Planning began a year in advance and involved arrangements for funding, staff, and physical facilities, as well as the important human relations task of establishing honest communication between representatives of two segments of the community: business and professional people, and adult migrant workers. The structure and meetings of the planning-advisory committee are described. Other areas discussed are the role of migrant representatives, licensing and regulations, financing and budget, fees, building, the children, professional and volunteer staff, staff recruitment and training, comprehensive services, parent involvement, and the educational program--its goals, methods, and curriculum. Evaluation is in progress. Appendixes comprise approximately 3/4 of the document and include supplemental materials and reports. (NH)
