Abstract | Presented in this report is an extensive statistical profile of certain factors of the Appalachia region of the United States. The report is organized in such a manner that one can look at the entire region, at a particular state, or at a particular region of a state. Factors examined include population estimates (1965 or 1966); work force, employment, and unemployment (1965 and change from 1962); population by sex (1960); population by place (1960); distribution of families by income (1960); education of persons 25 years of age and over (1960); labor force and employment status, by sex, of persons 14 years and over (1960); occupations of employed (1960); retail establishments and sales (1963); selected service establishments and sales (1963); and wholesale establishments and sales (1963). In addition, the study looks at changes of income, education, and certain employment from 1950 to 1960. Pertinent bibliographical listings are also included. (DB) |
