| Abstract | Information services offered by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) include "Chieffile," an electronic mail system, and "CHIEFLINE," a semiweekly news bulletin board. Chieffile provides information on federal legislation which is updated weekly, technology-related activities, a clearinghouse for information on state responses to the recommendations contained in "A Nation at Risk," a database listing school/college collaboration programs, a bulletin board for participants in the Educational Resource Exchange Program, and a Community Education Bulletin Board. A review of system usage suggested that 90% of the states check the contents of Chieffile at least once a month, 68% check it twice a week, and nearly 36% check it almost daily. CCSSO is also exploring the possibility of developing an international computer conferencing capability in cooperation with counterpart organizations in all parts of the world.
