Abstract | The purpose of this article is to explore the nature of partnerships and to discuss ways that partnerships foster teacher-as-researcher activities. Based on the work of the Association of Teacher Educators commission Teacher as Researcher: School and University Collaborations, this article focuses on a national Association of Teacher Educators academy held October 2004. Experts and practitioners in university and preK-12 school collaborations shared important insights on partnerships, and this article, based on the Association of Teacher Educators academy proceedings and commission activities, presents information on the role of collaboration, the teacher-as-researcher collaboration, the development of long-term partnerships, and the partnerships formed in response to influences such as No Child Left Behind. This article concludes with a review of the activities of the commission. (Author). |
