| Abstract | Physical keys, in many ways, symbolize belonging in a job. The secret to obtaining these physical keys hinges on one culminating event: the interview. In this author's experience with student teachers, she has found that they have little or no experience with the interviewing process. Most universities have a career center and interviewing workshops are often available on campus (University of North Texas Career Center, 2004). Unfortunately, many students are either unaware of these opportunities or fail to take advantage of them. The purpose of this article is to provide suggestions, culled from art supervisors, principals, human resource directors, and student teachers that may be helpful for the novice job applicant.
