Abstract | The future of campus counseling centers may be influenced by how well the national professional organizations are able to represent the best interests of such units. The current fragmentation among the existing professional organizations is problematic in reaching that goal. Efforts to influence the decisions of campus decision makers about mental health services would be enhanced by an organization that could promote the various missions of campus counseling centers, sponsor media advocacy campaigns, and help form a broad based community of professional personnel who work in such settings.
