Abstract	With violence in schools skyrocketing, the problems surrounding bullying and teasing can no longer be denied, ignored, or tolerated. Vastly underrated and widespread, bullying and teasing are often mishandled by both school staff and parents. This book provides detailed procedures for the primary prevention and management of bullying and teasing in the school system. It presents a comprehensive overview of bullying and teasing, along with practical assessment and intervention procedures designed to help the victim and tormentor. The problem of childhood bullying is discussed within the theoretical framework of Lazarus's cognitively oriented theory of stress and coping. Major sources of data, which have made impressive contributions to the current state of knowledge of bullying and victimization, are discussed throughout the text. This volume also explores issues surrounding teasing and points out that teasing is as severe a problem as bullying. It makes a number of suggestions for the prevention of the early onset of bullying and the importance of prevention programs for the preschool and early school years. It hopes to enable school counselors and those in private practice to make a difference to the many children who have suffered from bullying.
