Abstract | This paper presents panelists' responses to key questions on learning diversity at the 13th Annual Foundations Symposium and Open Forum. The panelists included five professors and one doctoral student in educational technology; each one responding to one of the following questions: (1) why address diversity, why the field should listen, what the benefits are, and for whom; (2) why cultural diversity has not been a part of educational technology discourse; (3) mechanisms for utilizing existing frameworks for incorporating cultural pluralism into instruction; (4) the impact gender has on the design of instruction; (5) the need for cultural diversity to be explicitly addressed within current instructional design models; and (6) personal experiences evaluating culturally insensitive materials.
