Abstract | This learning activity package is designed to help learners select a trade in which to apprentice, to think about personal factors and to understand typical job requirements and situations. The package offers information about over 200 occupations. After completing the package, learners should have a realistic idea about how well prepared they are to deal with job conditions in the occupations selected for additional study. Five units address the following topics: (1) occupational compatibility--a self-evaluation; (2) scoring and comparing one's occupational compatibility; (3) analyzing one's compatibility score; (4) discovering more about selected occupations; and (5) additional resources to help in the choice. Each unit contains some or all of these components: objectives, considerations to think about while the learner completes the unit, informational material, activity or activities, and considerations to think about when the learner completes the unit. A scoring key for occupations, listing common job characteristics and requirements, and including charts for scoring, is appended. (YLB) |
