Abstract | This document, designed by the Colorado Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Educators Workgroup, is intended to assist school personnel in the development of curriculums for AIDS/Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) programs. The guide includes the following: action plan; growth and developmental parameters and objectives for the AIDS curriculum; AIDS staff inservice; AIDS presentation outline; participatory learning techniques; AIDS information for students; curriculum examples of AIDS presentations; a list of resource agencies; general resources; resources for elementary school education; audiovisual resources; bibliography for school library; bibliography of school issues; and a list of books. Attachments include: a glossary; AIDS status sheet; teacher briefing; sixth graders' questions concerning AIDS; AIDS in the classroom; AIDS study guide; a list of Red Cross brochures for AIDS educational programs; 100 questions and answers about AIDS distributed by the New York State Department of Health; and the NCAS Criteria for Evaluating an AIDS Curriculum.
