Abstract	This publication contains four lesson plans to assist teachers in instructing their students about the census of agriculture and its uses. Designed primarily for vocational agricultural classes, the lesson plans may also have applications in math, social studies, and journalism or writing classes. Teachers do not need specialized knowledge about census statistics. The lessons cover: (1) livestock and crop production data; (2) agribusiness and the use of census data in business decisions; (3) community development activities and the use of census data in local economic and land use decisions; and (4) the purposes of the census of agriculture and its use by government and private agencies. Each lesson plan includes objectives, teaching suggestions, student activities, and portions of the 1982 Census of Agriculture. The publication also contains general recommendations for using lesson materials, suggestions for additional class activities, a list of who benefits from census data, brief descriptions of Census Bureau reports on the Census of Agriculture and other agricultural information, a glossary of census terms, the Census of Agriculture form for 1988, and a fact sheet about U.S. agriculture in 1982.
