Abstract	In a day care center which enrolled children between 14 months and 5 years of age, a child caregiver implemented a practicum study in order to allow children and older adults the opportunity to interact with one another for their mutual benefit. Goals were to: (1) increase children's positive attitudes toward older people; (2) seek positive comments from older people about the intergenerational program; (3) demonstrate that staff training is beneficial to intergenerational programs; (4) demonstrate an increase in parental awareness of intergenerational programs and activities; and (5) identify directors of child care centers and senior care facilities in the community who would like to use an intergenerational program or handbook with their staff. The intervention program consisted of: (1) weekly reading to children of storybooks that depicted the elderly in positive and realistic ways; (2) the use of creative activities such as art, music, and storytelling to develop the skills of the children and exercise the skills of the elderly; (3) staff development workshops which included demonstration of intergenerational activities; and (4) the monthly distribution of a newsletter to parents. Practicum evaluation data indicated that the project was successful. Related materials including surveys and questionnaires used, are appended in 19 appendixes. (RH)
