Abstract | This set of instructor's lesson plans is one of three documents prepared for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) National Standard Curriculum. It contains detailed outlines of course content and guidance for teaching each course lesson. The training course contains 33 lessons covering all emergency medical techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of the EMT providing emergency care with an ambulance service. Each lesson consists of the following parts: (1) title page and objectives, total lesson time, and student performance objectives for the lesson; (2) requirements for equipment, materials, illustrations, instructors, and facilities; (3) instructor tasks needed to prepare for teaching the lesson; and (4) a detailed lesson outline and suggested instructional strategy. For the evaluation lessons, aids for developing evaluation checklists are included. A synopsis of the 33 lessons appears in the introduction to the lesson plans. Appendixes to the lesson plans include the American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation guidelines, a bibliography, and in-hospital clinical guidelines. (KC) |
