Abstract | One in a series of core instructional materials for apprentices to use during the first or second years of apprentice-related subjects training, this booklet deals with basic safety. The first section consists of an outline of the content and scope of the core materials as well as a self-assessment pretest. Covered in the four instructional chapters included in the booklet are handling and storing materials safely, using tools and equipment safely, using ladders and scaffolding safely, and using protective devices and clothing. Each chapter contains an overview; an introduction and objectives; principles, examples, and applications; additional information; and self-test exercises. Appended to the booklet are answers to the self-assessment pretest, answers to the self-test exercises, a posttest, and answers to the posttest. (MN) |
