Abstract | The guidelines are designed to aid schools in developing their own curriculum guides and to assist teachers in planning courses, units of work, and daily classroom activities. The emphasis is on objectives designed to produce linguistic competencies and cultural knowledge. Because the primary objective of Latin instruction relates to achievement in reading, the objectives presented for the other skills and culture are all related to the achievement of the reading objective. Specific recommendations are provided for the development of skills and for structure in both Levels I and II. Objectives, learning activities, and activities for evaluation are suggested for both Levels One and Two. A glossary for teachers concludes the guide. (AMH) |
