Abstract | The fifty-four studies listed in this heavily annotated bibliography cover various aspects of minority student life as well as racism in universities. The yearly reports of a national survey on minority admissions are included, as are reports of the racial censuses of the University of Maryland, College Park from 1969 to 1973. There is also a study on differential admissions by race and sex. Studies of racial attitudes include a comparison of white university students and their parents; the relationship between racial and religious attitudes; differences between white male and female racial attitudes; freshmen's attitudes toward blacks; racial attitudes of white American, Australian, Japanese, and Danish students, and a comparison between Danish and American students (all of these studies use the Situational Attitude Scale (SAS) ); the relationship between racial attitudes, authoritarianism, and dogmatism. Several studies discuss problems of racial attitude measurement using SAS. The problems of racism and sexism and their elimination in schools and universities are covered in five studies. Two studies examine interracial interaction in universities. Prediction of grades and of academic success, and correlates of black and white university students' grades are looked at in three studies. The remaining studies cover test bias research, the attitudes and characteristics of black graduate students, black attitudes toward predominantly white universities, black student attrition, and comparisons of black and white university student commuters, of black and white university freshmen's expectations, and of black and white vocational interests.
