Abstract	A program for bringing information about the schools to the members of the community in the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District (Texas) is described in this book. Funding was provided by the Texas Education Agency through its Elementary and Secondary Education Act and by the Hogg Foundation. Details of the program are described, including the introductory steps, the plan for cooperative training with the Child Development Division of the University of Texas Medical Branch, neighborhood programs, pre-school screening clinics, pupil appraisal, team evaluations, inservice training of teachers and communicative aides, and direct community involvement. The program is an attempt to look at new ways of handling learning and behavior in the classroom; to find new ways of discussing problems common to parents and the school; and to recognize that there are better ways of helping those children who face handicaps when they enter school.
